Human capital and buildings are among the most important national assets. Well-being of people within buildings significantly affects health and productivity, two intertwined consequences with strong implications for intellectual capital generation and the quality of working and living. The mission of Theme A is to create knowledge and develop innovative solutions to enhance health, well-being and productivity through smart buildings for tropical climates.

    SinBerBEST Principal Investigators interviewed in Singapore newspaper Lian He Zao Bao

    Professors Schiavon, Tham and Sekhar were interviewed in the Lian He Zao Bao, the largest Singaporean Chinese-language newspaper with a daily circulation of about 200,000. The article discusses the Singapore government updated guidelines on improving building ventilation to strengthen the resilience against COVID-19 pandemic.

    In August 2020, SinBerBEST Postdoctoral Scholar, Federico Tartarini, published an article sharing that he and SinBerBEST PI, Stefano Schiavon, recently developed a Python package, pythermalcomfort, which can be used to calculate the most popular thermal comfort indices that conform with the major thermal comfort standards such as ASHRAE 55 and ISO 7730.

This document is targeted at the commercial, institutional and residential buildings that are open during the Circuit Breaker period.
